The holidays are always a very busy time of year, and with a focus on gathering and gifting, self-care tends to take a back seat. Here are 3 ways you can take a moment for yourself this holiday season:
- Take a Walk During the Day – It may sound simple, but I find that in the winter months, taking a walk during the day really helps my mood. With significantly less daylight, I often find that by the time I’m done doing everything I needed to for the day, its already dark outside, and I feel like the day passed me by – which causes stress and anxiety for me. So, make a point to go outside and enjoy the daylight each day, even if just for a few minutes.
- Try CBD Oil – CBD oil is everywhere these days and has so many benefits! I love the Populum Full Spectrum CBD oil – I’ve partnered with Populum because their CBD tastes great and I really love that Populum prides itself on its quality ingredients and transparency (which is important in an industry with very little regulation / oversight!). If the pure oil isn’t for you, they also have lotion, face oil, capsules and pet products! (PS – you can get 25% off gift sets with code HOLIDAY19).
- Say No – This one applies in two ways: First, say no to others. You don’t have to go to every event, volunteer at every opportunity, or ‘do it all.’ If you’re feeling over extended or just don’t think you have it in you, just say no! Second, say no to yourself! I always find myself making excuses due to the holidays, and getting out of my necessary personal routine or just straying from my ‘norm’ and ending up not feeling well as a result. Things like skipping an exercise, eating a second slice of pie ‘because it’s the holidays’ and just generally making unhealthy or ‘derailing’ decisions when I should have said no to myself.
