Guys! We are finally starting our first major renovation project at the new (well, actually very, very old but new to us) house! I’m super excited for you all to follow our whole journey with this house and the countless projects I have planned for it, especially this first one!
We’ll be renovating one of the guest bathrooms as part of the Jeffrey Court Spring Renovation Challenge! I’m super excited for this because I have really, really been obsessed with tile of all kinds and uses lately, and the Jeffrey Court tile (which you can get at Home Depot) is so great.
So, what is this Renovation Challenge? Well, 13 other home bloggers and myself (14 total) are participating in a 6-week renovation competition sponsored by Jeffrey Court — the winner gets $5,000! SO VOTE FOR ME!
You can check out all of the participants (and follow along with their renovation projects) here at the Jeffrey Court Renovation Challenge page.
I picked this bathroom for the challenge for a few reasons: First, like most of this house, it just needs to be updated. Second, it’s the hallway guest bathroom and it isn’t the “primary” bathroom for any specific bedroom in the house. Our main guest room has its own bathroom, and the master has its own bathroom. So it really only “needs” to be used if we had guests in two rooms. Lastly, and most importantly, the tub isn’t laid correctly – it “tilts” AWAY FROM THE DRAIN, meaning it doesn’t drain all the way, which is gross, annoying, and so frustrating. If we ever use the shower/bath, we have to then go in and windex / clean it manually every time. This was so gross and horrible because before we realized the problem, we bathed our dogs in there and it was just a dirty, wet-dog-smelling mess that we couldn’t just drain away. How did our home inspector not catch this?
<<Pro tip and note to self: if we ever buy another house, make sure this gets checked during inspection.>>
Here is the current state of the bathroom. Aesthetically, there isn’t anything “horrible” about it – it’s just outdated and totally note my style.
I’m so excited to show you my inspo for the new bathroom and to bring you all along on this renovation project! Until then, I’ll be trolling Facebook Marketplace for some vintage / antique pieces for the bathroom (side note: I’m addicted to Facebook Marketplace now – its so much easier and more convenient than craigslist!) and having #DEMODAY this weekend!
